Planning your first trip to Italy

Italy is known more for its wonderful, tasty food and this is why people like to travel to this country.  However, many people often overlook all of the other treasures that are available here.  Some of the adventures may seem low key to some people, but they are still worth the time and the visit.

Travel through part of Rome on a four and a half hour bike tour.  This tour is complete with seven hills, so you will get a workout along with those views.  Or you can choose a tour that goes from Florence to Chianti, where you bike ride through the hills and stop for wine and olive oil tastings along the way.  Horseback riding is another way to get from Florence to Chianti and since you are on horseback, the trip will only take about an hour.  The visit to the vineyards as well as a Tuscan meal makes the trip worthwhile.

There are a couple more adventurous things that you can do in Italy.  Adventures in Italy offers a trip where you go kayaking in the waters in Southern Italy and then hike many of the hillside trails.  Keep in mind, these trails are very rugged.  There are plenty of areas where visitors are able to scuba dive in Italy.  Be prepared to see many sea creatures and different flora species.  If you don’t think that you can scuba dive, then a snorkel trip may be a better idea.  Take advantage of the clear water available here in this area, for both snorkeling and scuba diving.

If you have ever wanted to experience flying without being in an airplane, then make sure you check out Gardena Tandem Fly.  You will fly high above the Dolomites Mountains as well as the Woods and South Tyrol’s Valleys.  And don’t worry you will have licensed pilots with you the entire time.

A few other must see sights in Italy are St. Peter’s Basilica and the Colosseum.  St. Peter’s is Italy’s largest and richest Basilica.  It took over 120 years to build and has been in use since 1626.  The Colosseum is located in Rome and is one of the best ancient sights anyone could see.  The Colosseum was completed in 80 AD and at one time sat 50,000 people.

You should have a variety of things to choose from while planning your trip to Italy.  After you arrive, all you need to do is relax, have fun and enjoy the sights.
